Day 46 of 365 ... 9/21/2009

I cannot quite remember when blinds took the place of curtains. They kind of snuck up and took over.

Day 45 of 365 ... 9/20/2009

I always feel stronger when I wear my Marc's hat

Day 44 of 365 ... 9/19/2009

I Do NOT WANT TO
make breakfasts, lunches and dinners, discover dirty laundry in places it should not be, hear kids constantly fight, have a dog who guards the frig from me, be unemployed, get rid of ants, be caught inside because it is 108 degrees outside, answer to grade school teachers, go grocery shopping, watch cartoons, i do not want to step on a lego brick in the dark, i do not want to BE employed, wash the dishes, i do no want to share my computer with three game playing maniacs, i do not want to mingle with other parents that i would never have anything in comman with except having the same age kid, i do not like that holidays used to be a joy now i dread them and I really, really do not want to be responsible.

Day 43 of 365 ... 9/18/2009

He is oooooooold and needs a hydrocortizone shampoo to keep him from chewing his skin off. He does NOT like his bath...that is a grimace, not a peace smile. I too, do NOT enjoy his bathtime. I cheated a little and used this photo Holly took today for my 365

Day 42 of 365 ... 9/17/2009

Day 37 of 365 ... 9/12/2009

Made this scrapbook in the days and weeks and months following 9/11/2001. I made it for the kids and this is the first year that they really are starting to grasp what happened and how we still are living with profound aftershocks. It is filled with newspaper clippings, letters sent home from Holly's kindergarten, an anthrax notice from the post office, an M&M wrapper (they made red, white and blue M & Ms with proceeds for the Red Cross), local grocery store bags printed with the American flag so that you could tape them in your window, photographs I took of all the flags everywhere...etc,etc.

Day 36 ... 9/11/2009

Anniversary of 9/11. I watched a show on TV the other night. It was aimed at debunking all "conspiracy" theories regarding 9/11. They call the consperacy nuts TRUTHERS. Hmmmmm I guess if the worst you can call me is a "TRUTHER" than I am okay with that.
Watch "Loose Change" and "Zeitgeist" ...two of the scariest films I have ever seen.

Day 35 ...9/10/2009

Out of ideas :) ... this is my "Home Schooling" photo

Day 34 ... 9/9/2009

Out of ideas today...but it is that magical 9-9-09 date :)

I saw 999 in concert when i was 18 :) in San Diego with my friend Roseanne Flores. It was 999s first US gig.

Day 33 ... 9/8/2009

President Obama's Speech to School Students was today. The schools here where we live decided to "opt out" of showing the speech. I kept all three of my children home to watch the speech and then took them in to school late.

I called Holly's eighth grade math teacher to find out why he was not going to let the kids watch in class (the Jr. High teachers decided individually whether to show the speech or not)... he told me that he figured "if any of the kids in his class were that interested they could just watch it on Youtube later at home". Hey, Mr. Math Teacher: It is a pretty bold assumption to believe that all of your students have a computer, access to the internet and are allowed to watch Youtube. It also really defeats the impact of the speech when kids do not all hear it at the same time...the "buzz" is an important part of any motivational speech.

When I called Troy and Elka's elementary school and asked if the speech would be aired for my children to hear I was told "Rest assured, it will not be shown in the classrooms". I called later and spoke with the principal who said that the reason it was not shown at this school was because so many calls protesting the speech were received at the District level. She said she sympathized with my opinion, after all, 8 other Presidents gave speeches to school children and Obama seems to be the first that has gotten this negative attention. (For God's sake---wasn't George Bush in a Kindergarten on 9/11?) She said she personally received a protest phone call from a father who would keep his boy out all day if they showed the speech...and she said this very same father had his son out for a day last year so he could take his son to LA to hear Kobe Bryant talk.

People are blowing me away with the extent they will go to to see this man fail...there were even right wingers outside the school where Obama spoke today that said "Mr. President, Stay Away from our Kids" see photos here: Signs. What a bunch of ridiculous hateful people.

I feel that of any man in America, really any person in America, the most qualified to give a speech to children on the importance of education would be our President. If any one in America imbodies what you can achieve if you really apply yourself it is definatly Barack Obama.

Day 32 ... 9/7/2009

This photo was taken on the steps outside of the Mission Inn, here in Riverside. It is a beautiful and historic building, where lots of famous and wealthy elite come to stay and get married. In the 70s it was inhabited by pot-smoking artists :)

Day 31 ... 9/6/2009

I have been so mean and depressed today :(

Day 28 ... 9/3/2009

I feel like I am going out of my mind. I am one of the California unemployed. The number of people unemployed in California last month was 2,187,000 – up by 33,000 over the month, and up by 840,000 compared with July of last year. Marc's business (he is self-employed) is suffering badly, to be expected. It is reaching temperatures of 109 degrees this week. I am a hoarder and a procrastinator. My right wing Republican father keeps sending me Obama hate e-mail. Our neighbors on one side are criminals, and our neighbors on the other side include a mom who has terminal cancer. We are going through an agonizing probate matter that is draining us and taking forever without an end in sight. We have no insurance and three children. We are barely holding onto our house and our dog is old and insane. Oh, and did I mention pre-menapause?

Day 27 ... 9/2/2009

Me and my little timeghost

Day 26

Sneaking a snuggle in Marc's robe

Day 25

I see you

Day 24

Feeling old, alone, artistically challenged. I am an old, unemployed lady.

Day 23

Feeling nostalgic---Holly loved the teletubbies :)

Day 22

Don't look at me.

Day 21

It is Pee Wee's birthday--- i cannot believe he is 57

Day 20

I love scrabble :)

Day 19

Elka did my nails. They remind me of the Ice Truck Killer on Dexter. I never wear beanie hats, but for a photo it seems like a nice prop. Yay Nirvana....

Day 18

Taken on the playground this morning. School is back in session---a blessing and a curse all in one.

Day 17

Gambling that I can complete this project :)

Day 16

Washing, washing, washing----wish i could wash all our troubles away :(

Day 15

Loved the Book, Loved the movie...nuff said

Day 14

Still drinking in the goodness of the zoo :)))
I am using Marc's little souvineer shot glass from the gorilla shop for this pic. We loved the gorillas.

Day 13

One of the best days ever. We went to the San Diego zoo. I loved being with Marc and watching our kids having such a great time. I like that my day 13 is on this special day when my baby Holly turns 13, as it is her bday today also.

Day 12

Really happy about the secret of taking the kids to Sea World tommorrow. Later in the day, plans changed (the zoo is half the price!) about our trip for the morn.

Day 11

Seriously, we were out of everything and broke. :(((((

Day 10

Woodstock's 40th anniversary!!!
We watched the movie this morning... :)))) what a trip it would be to have been there. In this pic I am wearing a pendant that I bought for Marc a while back. It is cut from a piece of the chainlink fence that surrounded the festival. We might have not been at Woodstock...but the necklace was!

see the website:
www.peacefence.com/index.htm

Day 9

I actually like this photo. I actually had got through with an hour long workout before this was taken. It makes me feel powerful :)

Day 8

I was the Zine Queen in this town in the 90s. I loved my magazine, The River Bottom Monkey. It helped me remember that I could draw! I especially loved that it gave Marc an avenue to write ...he is so talented with words. We met some really trippy people and had alot of fun with it. Maybe again someday?

Day 7

Feeling goofy today :)

Day 6

Feeling naughty today ;)

Day 5

I have been excercising every day for a few weeks. I really hope I can get in better shape and can keep with it.
I used to do these back bends every day when I was in high school...almost a weird, praying mantis version of sit ups- go forward and touch toes, go backward and touch heels...repeatedly while listening to FAME by Bowie. This was around the same time my dad figured I needed counseling.

Day 4

Loved Six Feet Under series on HBO. My fav character was Claire...and here the technique is stolen from her as photography student on the show
who actually stole the concept from her aborted baby's daddy
who was really just an actor....so, who am i really stealing from?

I guess nothing is original though, so I will carry on ;)

Day 3

Did not turn out as well as I would have liked...but I think it says the words ok.
"Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see"...cool lyrics

Day 2

This movie scared the crap out of me when I was a kid...so I thought I would share it with my children on this sunny Saturday afternoon :)

Day 1

I wonder if I can do this? I decided to start with a raw, yet clean view of myself...straight outta the shower. I know this will be good for me if I can complete this project, as I have a problem leaving things unfinished. A journey of self-discovery and a daily creativity challenge for a whole year...
